introduction in English
VätternKajak rents and sells kayaks/canoes. Are you a first time paddler? No problem, we will give you paddle instructions free of charge (which
takes about 10 minutes). All kayaks
have large cockpits so there is no risk of getting stuck.
Life jackets are included in the price. If you
wish to paddle some place besides the Lake of Vättern we can arrange
transportation of the kayaks/canoes.
There is room for about 200 liters in
each kayak. This usually gives your
enough space to pack for a one-week trip. The Vättern water is so clean that you can
drink straight out of the lake.
How
to find VätternKajak:
We are located in Motala, Sweden, by beautiful lake
Vättern which is the second largest lake in Sweden. Once in
Motala follow the signs towards VARAMON. In
Varamon the address is: Midsommarvagen 11.

Kayak/Canoe
models for rent:
Our 40 (20 different models) kayaks/canoes are usually new each season and therefore in very good
condition. Some kayaks are very
stable and almost impossible to capsize (the Oasis for example), while others
are faster and more unstable (for the more advanced paddlers).

Places
to paddle!
For those who wish to paddle for a few days, the north
archipelago (Article about the
archipelago in English click here!) of Vättern
is unbeatable. You will be able to paddle between about 70 untouched islands
where camping is free of charge. You might get the island of your dream all to yourself.
It is however about 30 km to the archipelago, so unless you feel like
paddling all the way (it's a nice trip with a lovley nature), we can arrange transportation of the kayaks.
It costs 420SEK (approx. 42EUR) to have the kayak(s) transported to or
from the archipelago. If you have a roof rack on your car, you can do the
transportation yourself (up to 3-4 kayaks). Holders and straps you can borrow
from us. We can also lend
you a map over the archipelago.
Another popular trip is on the Göta Canal.
There are several nice
camping grounds along the canal, but if you just want to camp beside the canal
it’s ok and free of charge. If you don't want to
paddle both ways, give us a call and we'll pick you up at the location of your
choice.
